The Bespoke Website Design & Build Process
Designing websites and the creative process as a whole can be a complicated one, especially if the designer and client don’t communicate effectively – here is our easy to follow process broken down to refer back to once you take the plunge!
1. Pay Your Deposit
Once you have made your payment with your credit or debit card, the project is official, we will book everything into our studio for our creative team to start work.
2. Complete Our Questionnaire
You will be guided through a series of questions that will form the basis of your brief to us. This will be entirely about the visual look and feel of the finished website, your target audience, your unique message and the main subject content of the site.
3. Home Page Design
Based on the answers you submit through our questionnaire, we will generate a design and email you a copy. It is important to save this image to your desktop and then right-click on it to select ‘Open With’. From here, select your preferred web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari etc.) and you will be able to see the website as it will appear in your live browser.
4. Home Page Design Amendments
All projects include a maximum of two sets of revisions to the home page designs within the standard contract. Further revisions are certainly available, but will be charged for on an individual basis so it is important to give us as much detail as possible when answering our questionnaire and giving your feedback.
5. Home Page Design Approval
It is important to note that once this general design is signed off, it will not be possible to make amendments without incurring further charges.
6. Template Creation
Once we have received approval on the home page design, we then create an online working version for you to approve. Essentially, we cut the main image up into individual sections and then hand code XHTML script to instruct web browsers how to display them all to make up the final website templates.
7. Domain Name Acquisition/Transfer
If you don’t already own your domain name, don’t worry – we can secure it for you (if it hasn’t already been registered by somebody else).
Alternatively, if you already own your domain name, it is a simple case of logging into your existing suppliers control panel and amending the ‘A’ Records to point to our server. Full instruction on how to do this will be supplied by your current providers, but we will ensure you have all the relevant details required to complete this when you need it.
8. CMS Integration
When the templates are completed, we will need to integrate them with WordPress to give you access to edit the content yourself when the site does go live.
9. Adding the Content
This is the point where your website really comes to life. We spend time adding in your text, images, videos and any documents (such as PDFs, Word or Excel files etc.) that you want your viewers to be able to download and build your site for you.
We will build a maximum of ten pages within the cost, but don’t worry – you will soon be adding pages and editing content yourself!
10. Website Approval
When all the content is in the site, we will pass it back to you for final approval before launching on your main domain name.
11. Pay Your First Instalment
Once you have signed off your site, you will be itching to get it live. Implement the first payment through PayPal and elect to pay your monthly instalment by credit or debit card, or even by Direct Debit. As soon as we have received cleared funds we will launch the site.
12. Website Launch and Handover
Once we have final approval from you and we have received your first installment payment of £39.99 (plus VAT), the website will be uploaded to your domain and viewers will be able to see the new version of the site on your domain.
When a viewer types your domain name into any web browser connected to the Internet they will be presented with your new site. Please note that this can take up to 72 hours to display on some viewers browsers depending on your domain extension (.com, .co.uk, .net etc.) and your viewers own Internet Service Provider (ISP) as we have no control over how quickly they refresh their pages.
At this point, we will issue you with login details to be able to access the main control panel and amend or add to the content of your website yourself.
